Overview
Disclaimers are essential tools for managing client expectations. These statements should appear on every public-facing page where clients enter payment information. While a disclaimer isn’t a universal guarantee against challenges, it provides a critical layer of protection for your firm in the event of a dispute.
Admin Access Required: You must have Admin permissions to access the User, Settings, and Notifications areas to manage these disclaimers.
📍 Where to place disclaimers
You have the flexibility to maintain a single, consistent statement across your platform or customize messages for specific workflows.
LawPay Link allows you to add disclaimers within Settings for:
Send for Payment workflows.
Payment Page transactions.
📝 What should the disclaimer say?
At a minimum, your statement should:
Confirm the Company Name as it will appear on the client’s bank or credit card statement.
Explicitly Inform the client that by clicking "Submit," they are authorizing the transaction.
Example Template:
"I authorize [Your Company Name] to charge my credit/debit card indicated on the web form, for the noted amount on today's date."
⚖️ Legal Compliance
We strongly recommend researching local and federal laws regarding payment disclosures. For the best protection, consult with your legal department or private counsel to ensure your disclaimer text meets your specific firm's needs.
